Experience the New OptoMap® Retinal Exam
Lafayette Eye Associates, P.C.’s goal is to provide the best quality care for all of our patients. We do this by having highly educated doctors, up to date on eye health and the newest technologies.
The OptoMap® is a technology that takes a photo of the back of the eye, and the Optovue OCT evaluates the layers of your retina. This allows the doctor to view your retina more clearly and assists in detecting early signs of eye disease such as macular degeneration, retinal detachment, or diabetic retinopathy as well as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and cancer.
The combination of these two instruments help us determine ocular health issues and can give information on systemic health. Early detection of retinal disorders is critical to preventing loss of vision and having this historical record gives us the opportunity to evaluate health changes. The Optos OptoMap® and Optovue OCT go well beyond the minimal care that dilation provides without the hassle of blurred vision and light sensitivity.
For a nominal fee, you are receiving this superior care. In cases of diabetes, macular degeneration, certain medication use, and many auto-immune diseases, the Optos Optomap® and Optovue OCT are billed under medical insurance. The OptoMap® exam takes just minutes to perform, it’s painless, and provides a permanent record of the condition of your retina. The doctor will be able to compare each year’s OptoMap image side by side to discover even subtle changes in your eye health.
